Partnership with Kanayama Town, Yamagata Prefecture

■ About our partnership with Kanayama Town

This fragrance was born from a partnership with Kanayama Town in Yamagata Prefecture, in collaboration with the Sleep Consortium at Yamagata University.

■ About Kanayama Town, Yamagata Prefecture

Kanayama Town in Yamagata Prefecture is an area that has long made use of its abundant cedar forests and where forestry has become a fundamental part of life. Kanayama Cedar in particular is a symbol of the town, and with its beautiful grain, pleasant fragrance, and durability, it has been used for a wide range of purposes, including building materials for homes, furniture, and crafts.

Kanayama Town is also known for its natural beauty and charming streets, and was selected as one of Japan's 500 most beautiful walking paths. In the center of town, traditional streets known as "Kanayama Residences" remain, dating back to the Edo period, and the practice of building houses using locally sourced timber continues to this day.

Furthermore, we are also focusing on sustainable forestry that makes use of local resources, and through planned reforestation and appropriate forest management, we aim to achieve both environmental conservation and local economic development.

The deep relaxation you can feel when surrounded by the scent of Kanayama cedar is a testament to the wisdom and culture of living in harmony with nature that Kanayama Town has carefully preserved.

■ "Quality sleep" and "forest scent" - A new relaxation habit in harmony with nature

It is said that approximately 60% of people today have some kind of sleep problem. In urban areas in particular, the decline in sleep quality due to stress and environmental factors is considered a problem.
"Lumberjack's Nap" utilizes the scent of Kanayama cedar, which has a relaxing effect similar to that of forest bathing, and aims to recreate a comfortable environment at home where you can sleep in nature.
The scent of Kanayama cedar stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, leading to a relaxed state of mind and body, supporting deeper sleep.

■ Sustainable initiatives and future developments

In this project, we are working with local woodworkers and forestry professionals to make effective use of thinned wood and offcuts, thereby promoting the recycling of forest resources.

HIRUNEGAO will continue to develop products that utilize Japan's excellent natural resources and propose a new sleeping experience through "fragrance."
